Laser Periodontics
Recent clinical studies and advances in laser technology have resulted in guidelines for laser periodontics. Laser energy is specific and destroys disease tissue in the periodontal pocket and eliminates bacteria. By design, the laser energy removes the bad bacteria and tissue and leaves the good. Laser therapy is performed in conjunction with scaling and root planning or as an adjunct to surgery.
